Wellkome to “Varnentsi” Family Hotel – village Borovo!Discover the Untamed Beauty Around Borovo
The village of Borovo is an ideal starting point for scenic walking tours in the area, as well as for visits to Krastov Peak (1,428 m) and the Holy Cross Forest — a revered spiritual site believed to possess unique healing energy.
The surrounding landscape is dominated by volcanic rock formations and hidden caves, creating a mystical and wild atmosphere.
Two impressive natural landmarks rise above Borovo —
Orelova Skala (Eagle’s Boulder) and Karlukovskiyat Kamak (The Karlukovo Stone), both known for their unusual shapes and breathtaking views.
Explore caves like Yurtovska Dupka, Ochite (The Eyes), Shepra Dupka, and many more.
Orelova Skala resembles a stone sanctuary made of rosy and brown rock, offering panoramic views that stretch for miles.
The surrounding cliffs look like a stone forest, with towering natural columns — known locally as “chuchuli” — the tallest reaching nearly 30 meters in height.
Not far from the village lies the Red Rock Biosphere Reserve, established in 1962, located in the Dobrostan ridge between Borovo and Bachkovo.
Spanning 812 hectares, the reserve is home to over 25 relict plant species, including the rare Cypripedium calceolus (Lady’s Slipper Orchid).
The diverse terrain, climate, and soil support exceptional biodiversity, making the area a paradise for botanists, hikers, and nature lovers alike.
To the east lies the Kormisosh Reserve, covering 42,000 hectares, known for its rich wildlife.
Here you may encounter bears, wolves, mouflons, wild goats, wild boars, capercaillies, roe deer, and red deer roaming freely in their natural habitat.
